Bizarre (I spelled it right today) Quiz of the Day

click to take it!

Which isn't really a shocker, I suppose. I kind of think I'm more Jonatha Brooke, but hey. She's one woman, not a band, I guess.

RANTS

No offense to anyone, but I loathe anything to do with hospitals. Now, I'm not saying we don't need them, we most certainly do. We need doctors and nurses, and everyone works very hard and learns very hard to become those really necessary things. I have the utmost respect for anyone who can look and vomit and go, "WOW." However...

I was really sick yesterday. I have no idea what it was. I was working merrily along when, for no apparent reason, I was siezed with horrible, white-hot shafts of pain in my intestines. It was menstrual cramps on steroids, and I could barely MOVE it was so bad. Now, I don't have a car and both the boys were home. So, ordering them around, I called on my boss for help. This was after an hour of grappling with it, writhing around, popping aspirin and pamprin, and slow measured breathing. None of which made a *snap* of difference.

So, she suggests I call a nurse and get advice. You know, cause they sometimes say, "Well, it could be XXXX, but give it an hour." My nurse said, come to the ER. Sighing, I called my boss again, and she came over and got me. But we chose to go to an "Urgent Care Clinic", which is less than an ER (and usually cheaper) but not a doctor.

Well, I don't have insurance. My DH does, my kids do, but I don't. I fall through the cracks of this life in this respect. The DH can't add me to his insurance at work, because we'd be out a whole lot of much needed money for our nearly-poverty level existance. I can't get on the state's insurance, because I "could" get on his insurance and we make too much money (ha) to qualify. The entire money issue also prevents me from getting insurance of my own. So, I try not to get sick. HA.

Anyhow, we go to the Urgent care clinic. This involves a half-hour of driving, since neither Milady (the boss) or I have any idea where one of these near my house. We go in, my cramps have lessened a LOT since they began, but I'm still having trouble walking, straightening up, breathing, all that...and ask what we'll have to do to be seen. "Well," the flowered-printed nurse says, "it starts at $97. Then, depending on testing, x-rays, medication and whatever else, it goes up." I have like $50 bucks in the house, the DH gets paid next Thursday. "Uh, yeah." We exit, stage right, bent over.

Choosing not to go to the actual ER, because I know how bad that will be, we return to Milady's house. She leaves for an appointment she had and I yak it up with her husband, my other boss David, about a variety of topics, including his happy birthday today (well, yesterday now). By the time I return home, I'm not fine, but I'm not as bad as I had been. I didn't take any more medication, either. I still feel kind of crampy, but I'm hoping time and some 'body flushing' will relieve whatever the heck is going on.

But yeesh, what if I'd had a collapse or something? And what if these cramps aren't like "constipation", but an indication of like uteran cancer? How will I know? Well, I'm on a crusade for some health care, now. I just can't do this anymore. It's too stressful, to say the very least.

RAVES

Shameless self-promotion today. First, I made an Amazon Exchange site. Then, I made a new FREE webset. I guess I'm in a RED mood. Then I went and joined the Realm of Redheads. It's a ME kind of weekend, I guess.

Got a few minutes? Why not answer the FUM at Toasted Cheese? Don't have to be a member, and this week's questions were all created by yours truly. Told you it was a ME kind of weekend.

If you haven't already done so, why not drop by my new Tutorials page, too? There's some good advice there. No? Well, you can always apply for an award.

One rave about NOT ME....My son Matthew, 11, started learning Tae Qwon Do this week. He's a natural, and has decided to be a teacher of it when he grows up. He's had TWO lessons. Master Choi, an ex-Olympian, even gave Matthew some personal instruction yesterday. It was all very exciting.

Bizaree Quiz of the Day

Hero Guild Name

Villains fear me.

Heroes envy me.

Deoris is...

The Stormy
Gladiator

You know, that wouldn't be quite so funny if I hadn't posted a story yesterday about a female gladitor fighting in the arena during a storm. LOL. Since I took the quiz yesterday, I find it most appropriate!

RAVES

Well, today, I'm the rave. That's right, me. Okay, okay. I just wanted to put a link to Maxim Tremendous here, so all you Toasted Cheese members can go read my kick-ass gladiator story. It's 'slated' to be the opening sequence of my novel, should I get back to writing the novel. Encouragement, acknowlegement and accolades are always welcome! If you aren't a member, go become one!

RANTS

Another small personal frustration. When you are busy, everyone in the universe wants to talk to you. When you aren't busy, the only person to talk to is the stuffed dog on the computer. It's odd. I can sit here all morning long and nothing. Then, all of a sudden, 300 people want my attention. The boss has a project or question, the phone rings, the kids come home, there's chat, whatever. It's just kind of wierd. Thought I'd share.

I'm also getting a tad annoyed at the whole WWAUS yahoo group. Man, can these people talk about nothing. I get, and I'm not joking, about 300 emails a day from this one list. Know why? Everyone sends one or two words posts. "Good!" "Way to go!" "Awww, how sweet!" You name it. On the other hand, I've gotten tubes, graphics, help, a lot of great naked men pictures, ideas, challenges, and just all around good vibes, too. But man, 300 emails is a LOT.

Bizarre Quiz of the Day

Find out which Xena girl you are

And, well, that makes me Queen of the Amazons, by the way. Feel free to let me know who you are over in my comments forum!

RAVES

Starting with raves today, there's more of those. LOL

My son's tap dance recital was a lot of fun. The theme was "Love Boat", and they had a fake bar and some tables lining the background. In front the dancers performed their routines. Well, you noticed by about the third set that the next set up were filling the chairs. So, everyone got a lot of stage time. Best moment where my son wasn't involved: They had this little man, probably about 5 years old, escort 3 young ladies onto the stage one at a time. None of the girls could have been over four, and you could tell one was 2 or 3. The song played, and they did the ONE step they knew, over and over. It was about the cutest moment alive. The entire audience was just roaring with laughter and applause at these little cherubs. The song: "The Good Ship Lollypop" of course. LOL I managed to catch one after the show and tell her what a good job she had done.

Mind, my father (and this is truly funny to me) said the duo of teen women doing a jazz tango to the Moulin Rouge version of "Roxanne" was just "wrong." "It was too adult for them," he said. Pardon while all the injured parties in the room snarketh.

My father and grandmother, Nonie, stayed on for dinner afterward. There was pizza and general merriment. We talked about flowers and movies, and Moulin Rouge since Pat and Q'Aedon were watching it in the living room. Then we moved on to geneology, a pet topic of mine, especially with Gran in the house. Got some new threads to chase down in the cyber-world, looking for others of my ilk. :)

Created a tutorial page, which isn't very big yet, but will grow. I'm pretty good at what I like to call 'dumbing things down', but is really nothing more than going step by step and being as exact as possible. So, if you do PSP or make web sets, drop on down. Adding glitter to fonts and pictures using PSP and PSP Animation Studio will come next. Any suggestions about where to go from there, you just let me know. I'm big on sharing the information.

Don't really have a RAVE I can think of off hand. I'm due to visit Choi's Tae Kwon Do place here in a while. Gran decided that since Patrick had a bunch of tap lessons, Matthew should learn something too. Since the two closest places to my house are the dance and the TKD place, off we go. LOL.
