Exerpt from "...And You Think You've Got It Bad"
Love and MarriageFretting and Grumbling Try to remember that one of the great disturbers of peace in the family is fretting. There are two sides to life; like most garments, like most carpets, everything in life has a right side and a wrong side. You can take any joy and by turning it around find trouble; like-wise you can turn the greatest trouble around and find joy. When you have troubles, keep turning around, and carry your own candle amid the thickest gloom. Most fretting comes to nothing anyway.
Well, that's probably the best advice so far. And totally true. And kind of apt for me today.
See, I finally got insurance and went to the doctor yesterday. Today I'm schedulded for a "inside" look at the contents of my stomach. Gee, sounds thrilling, doesn't it? I get to be awake, too. I'm beyond thrilled about this. But fretting isn't getting me far. So I'll just move on.
Pat got his cast off. He has to treat his arm carefully, like no falling on it. But he can do housework and yardwork again. Lucky boy. (heh)
My brother Paul called the other day (finally). It's been about six months to a year since we last heard from him. His phone was disconnected apparently. Autumn left him (that's the name of a girl, for those who don't know) and took the phone with her. He has a new roomie who has the phone in his name now. Anyhow, he didn't walk off the edge of the planet which is a good thing. Mom and I were kind of worried about having not heard from him. He has built himself a Harley, or rebuilt is the better word, I suppose. He painted it bright yellow. True. I have the pictures. Who paints a Harley YELLOW? Oh well. I don't have to ride it. heh
"The Great Urge Downward" has become kind of a chore. Lance, the main character, has reached depths of depravity that I just didn't need to know to further the plot. So it's kind of boring. Sex, sex, sex. That's about all that's in this book now. The plots gone missing. I'm hoping he reaches a decent conclusion here.
Oh! But Kou is reading this HYSTERICAL book full of very colorful euphamisms. My favorite so far (you should make sure and swallow all liquids at this point) was "a small hooked white sausage." Pardon the uproarious laughter. If you've seen "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days", I think that one's MUCH better than "Princess Sophia", don't you?
Ever have a wierd smell in your house? For some reason, I smell cooked artichokes just now. Wierd. Haven't had artichokes in a long time and I can't imagine what they'd be doing here in the office either. There's been a mysterious "rose" smell back here, even though the roses long since died. Bizarre.
Last, if you're wondering why the long space between posts; I got my Xena Season 1 and my Buffy Season 4 DVD's. Been watching some of those when I've a chance. They rule. :)
Keep your sword sharp and your mind sharper.
